Recruiting Volunteer Team Leads

Get your hammers ready! Vision House kicks off our compressed build for the Jacob's Well project in Shoreline this April. We are currently recruiting 15 volunteer professional framers and 15 skilled assistants, willing to patiently lead volunteer crews of 10-15 skilled and unskilled laborers on Saturdays and possibly Sundays during the month of April. The build has been divided into 15 segments and each Team Lead and their skilled assistant will be responsible for one segment. (see below)

Team Leads will be responsible for one of the following areas:

  •  Cut team- precut all studs, trimmers, headers and blocking- need cut list
  • Stairs- landing and stairs
  • Wall material layout- Spread  lumber in preparation for nailing
  • Wall nailing- Check and nail all lumber in walls in preparation for sheeting
  • Sheeting- square wall, sheet, tack and snap nailing lines and openings
  • Sheeting nailing- nail sheeting, cut openings (shear wall strapping)
  • Wall standing- Stands, plumb, line and secure
  • Floor layout- Mark plates for all beams, joists, including hangers
  • Floor cutters- cut beams, joists, blocks
  • Beams- set all beams (most in first floor)
  •  Joists framing-
  • Hardware installation- hold downs, hangers
  • Exterior deck- posts, joists
  • Exterior staircases- walls, landings stairs
  • Subfloor installation
